Twenty four 1958’ers came along to this special Reunion because in 2006/07 we all reach 60.

Where have all the years gone?

The Reunion was a buffet lunch in Enfield and the excitement grew as each person came in. Several people came along who had not been to a 1958’ers Reunion before and said how much they had enjoyed themselves. The momentary apprehensions soon disappeared into lively chatter. We had two people come down from Scotland and one long distance guest from Australia. Several folk could not make it as they had prior engagements or holidays but sent their apologies. A couple of our group are poorly so we signed cards for them. Two people live abroad and sent their apologies and photos. Although a group of girls from 1958 have kept in touch over the years, the advent of TOSA and Friends Reunited meant that we are now in touch with more of the girls and some of the boys. There are about 44 on the master list although (it appears to be a common problem) some people never acknowledge communications.

Scattered around the hall were pictures and mementos from Trinity brought along by folk who had raided their attics! Also there were reminders of films, TV programmes and music from the years we were at Trinity. Plenty of nostalgia. We were children of the Sixties and still enjoy the pop records from that time. Although we may have a few lines on our faces and our waistlines might be a little thicker (in some cases) we are still the same people we were back then. In 1958 it would have been hard, if not impossible to contemplate being 60 and a few of us actually being retired. Gosh, we are good looking pensioners!

Thank you to everyone who contacted Di Lane (Johnson) or myself after the event saying how much you enjoyed the reunion. We are planning to get together again in five years time when the boys get to 65 but we will keep in touch in the meantime and I hope to be able to persuade some 1958’ers to come along to other TOSA events.
